Numbers you can stand behind
Know your limits before you pull the motor.
RigThis: The Professional Rigger's Physics Engine.
If you’re a rigger, production manager, or arena tech, you already know “close enough” doesn’t fly. RigThis runs the heavy physics for bridles and truss loads and hands you clear numbers fast, right when you’re on the floor making calls.
Built by riggers, for riggers. It takes the ugly arena-floor math off your notepad and puts it in your pocket, so load-in stays safer and faster and you can keep your eyes on the rig instead of a spreadsheet.
What you get on the deck
These tools match how we actually work: beam geometry, baskets, offsets, and what the venue will sign off on. No generic textbook problems dressed up as rigging.
-
Bridle solvers
2-leg in the base app. 3-leg Pro
Punch in beam heights, baskets, and offsets. Leg lengths and tensions update in real time, with barycentric-style weighting so the shares line up with how you hung it.
-
Safety-first analytics
If leg tension, point loads, or bridle angles (think 60° and up) step past venue or industry limits, you get a red alert before you’ve committed steel in the air.
-
Dynamic load distribution
Lay out truss with movers, video, and stacks in mind. Use Dynamic Load Factors (DLF) for automated moves so shifting weight doesn’t sneak up on your motors.
-
Projects & saved venues Pro
Pro unlocks projects so you can maintain multiple venues at once, each with its own grid heights, ratings, and room-specific details. Nothing gets mashed into one generic profile. Create, rename, and file jobs so the right building comes back when you walk that room again.
Who it’s for
RigThis is for people who hang shows and have to back up their numbers in the room, not bury them in a spreadsheet nobody trusts.
- Headline riggers & high steel running bridles, motors, and mothergrid picks where the angles and tensions actually matter.
- Production managers & PMETs who need clear outputs when structural, the house, or the tour asks “are we good on that pick?”
- Arena & venue techs working off rated points, grid heights, and paperwork that changes room to room.
Physics engine, not a toy calculator
On the phone with structural or production? RigThis gives you plain numbers, cautious flags when things look hot, and assumptions you can actually point to.
- Resultant side pull shows when horizontal components on baskets and span picks deserve another pass.
- Barycentric coordinates keep multi-leg load sharing tied to the geometry you actually typed in.
- Lever rule is there for quick moment checks when weight slides along a beam or truss.
About me
A rigger who built the tool—not a tech company guessing at yours
I’ve spent 14 years in the entertainment industry with a real passion for rigging—the math on the grid, the calls on load-in, and the responsibility that comes with putting steel in the air.
I built RigThis because I kept doing the same bridle and load calculations over and over, double-checking by hand and hoping nothing got missed. I wanted something simpler to reach for, quicker to run on the floor, and safer because the numbers are clear before you commit to a pick.
This isn’t a random software shop chasing a niche. It’s one rigger’s answer to problems I’ve actually had in the room—arenas, theatres, tours, and everything in between. Every feature exists because the work demanded it, not because a product roadmap said it should.
